RE: Fl. to ?? best week long trip from Fl.

Now don't that beat all! RVers that live in Florida want to get away while those of us that are away want to go to Florida.

RE: Directv

Ours goes out in a heavy rain even tho I put Rain-X on the dome. I think the raindrops on the dome mix up the signal.

RE: laptop purchase options?

Memory, memory, memory; the more the better. We are partial to Dell and bought my last one at a Dell kiosk in the local mall.

RE: Can I afford to maintain an older DP?

Did you go to www.rvknowhow.com to read and follow the Kieva's suggestions on how to select an RV; unless, of course, you already have lots of RVing experience and know what you want.

RE: What GPS is for me????

www.cabelas.com seems to have anything you could want in a GPS for hiking or ATVing.

RE: Reusing the pink stuff.

You'll be saving about $10 for three gallons of pink stuff and use up $20 in hassle. If you want to save money drive at 55 mph!

RE: suggestions for a Grand Canyon Trip

Drive to Williams, AZ and stay at the Grand Canyon RR Campground. Take the train to the South Rim where it lays over for about three hours; plenty of time for the kids, and takes you back to the campground. Before the train ride there is a wildwest show at the Williams station and a `holdup' on the way back with `real' cowboys on horseback. It's a full day but is easy on the driver/navigator. BTW, with kids that young I'd put off the trip for a few more years and stay around home. That's an awful lot of time in the car/truck for that age. There isn't, but there should be a rule that one should stay at a destination longer than it took to get there and back.

RE: Thor Wave 27 RKS

Length is not an issue; weight is. The longer the trailer the easier it is to back up.

RE: Later Snowbirds/Packing the camper ????

The camper should do your bidding not the other way around. Turn on the heat but you may want to keep it around 50 or so.

Kennedy Space Center? Disney World?

RE: slow sink drains

Something else that works well in my home is Power Plunger which is a can of compressed air/nitrogen that blows its way through the clog and doesn't have any chemicals to worry about. Haven't had to use it in the camper yet.

RE: Route 66 - East coast to West coast

Williams, AZ seems to have maintained the old Route 66 atmosphere and facilities more than most towns and is worth a stop; or a day. While you are there how about a train ride to the South Rim for a day?

RE: Effectiveness of Foam Pipe Insulation

It's a good idea to put foam insulation on your pipes anyway. Foam on the hotwater pipes keeps the heat in and on the cold pipes keeps them from sweating. With regard to freezing, the temperature in the house is probably higher than the ambient anyway so freezing shouldn't be a problem.

RE: What tip do you have to save us money to keep camping?

If you are on fixed income what does the bad economy have to do with cutting back on camping? What is different now as compared to the summer of 2007 when the economy was booming? In fact (keep your fingers crossed) the gas prices may be less next summer.

RE: water pump bad already?

I had the same problem then learned to keep some water in the Freshwater Tank to prime the pump then shut off the valve from the FW Tank and open the valve to the hose that is inserted into the antifreeze bottle. Once the pump sucks antifreeze you can drain the FW Tank.

RE: NEED JOB IN FLA.

If you are handy with tools you might look into Habitat for Humanity where they have an RV Care-a-vanners program. Pay stinks but you feel good at the end of the day. Go to www.habitat.org, click on Get Involved then Volunteer Programs then RV Care-A-Vanners to see if there is an opportunity where you are going.
